An Adventure Across America
Traveling from coast to coast on Hwy 50 provides you with an amazing geography & lifestyle lesson on the United States. Leaving San Francisco and its coastal climate, you head into some of the most desolate and beautiful terrain in the USA. Stretches of road seem to go on forever and then disappear into the horizon. You drive through spectacular canyons in Utah and cross three mountain ranges - the Sierra Madre, Rockies & Appalachians. You cross the lower breadbasket of the US with its rich soil & crops growing to feed the US and the world. As if putting an exclamation point on your trip, you drive through the USA's capital, Washington DC. Shortly after that you cross Chesapeake Bay, the largest estuary in the USA. Then Ocean City, Maryland is in sight, 3,073 miles or 4,946 kms from the start of your adventure.
Lindsey
This road trip was an opportunity for Lindsey and I to enjoy a real travel adventure together. From putting her feet in the ocean at either end of America, to doing cartwheels at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco - Lindsey's "free spirit attitude" kept our trip interesting. Her favourite purchase - a coon skin hat from Dodge City. Her favourite stop - any brewpub along the way.
