It’s still dark when the village alarm system goes off. How can that happen without any electricity - easy have a 1/2 dozen roosters roaming around. As the sun comes up the rain forest around you comes alive. Across the bay I see an armada of dugout canoes headed my way. Soon I realize that they are students from nearby villages headed to the beach beside my leaf house. One of the Kolombangara’s biggest schools is only a 1/2 mile away. They seem to race to the beach when they see me taking photos.
The children are neatly dressed and barefoot as they head off to their classes. What fun to watch this and take photos.
